About the Survivor Advisory Committee
Purpose
The FinAbility Survivor Advisory Committee places survivor voices at the forefront of our organization, providing the expertise and perspectives needed to ensure our work is relevant and empowering
Commitment
Committee members serve two-year terms and spend two to five hours a month providing feedback on programs, spreading awareness of resources for survivors, and building community partnerships
Eligibility
We are looking for survivors of domestic abuse and/or stalking who are comfortable sharing their experiences as a survivor for the benefit of the greater community
Who is eligible for the Survivor Advisory Committee?
All Committee members must:
1) Identify as a survivor of domestic abuse or stalking
2) Be comfortable sharing their experiences as a survivor for the benefit of the committee, organization, and the greater community
3) Uphold FinAbility’s values of integrity, courage, and humility, in addition to being open-minded
What is the timeline and process for applying?
January 2: Applications for the Survivor Advisory Committee open
February 1: Deadline to submit the committee application form. Applications will close at 11:59 PM Pacific Time February 6: Finalists are invited to interview. If not selected, you will also receive a notification on this day
February 13 - 24: Finalists interview with Committee Chair and FinAbility CEO
February 28: Finalists are notified if they have been accepted to the Committee
What is it like to be a Committee member?
As a member of the FinAbility Survivor Advisory Committee, you are joining a community of driven, powerful survivors determined to transform their trauma into something meaningful.
Every month, you'll have the opportunity to inform, develop, and spread awareness of programming that financially empowers survivors, so they can break free from abuse and thrive.
You will also gain access to a support system, which will be with you on your journey as you build financial security and freedom.
What are my responsibilities as a Committee member?
Committee membersserve two-year terms and receive an annual $1,000 stipend for their service.
Committee members are expected to attend quarterly Committee meetings in addition to providing one to five hours of monthly ad hoc support, such as promoting awareness campaigns, providing feedback on new products and programs, and sharing impact stories with the community.

We evaluate candidates based on the following criteria: - Does candidate uphold FinAbility's values? - Does candidate have strong communication skills? - Does candidate provide a unique perspective and/or skills? - Does candidate seem passionate about this opportunity?
