The safest way to hide your browsing history is to use a device that your harm doer has never had access to. All browsers keep a local browser history of sites that you've visited that is not possible to completely erase.
However, if you are unable to access a safe device and need to use the internet, there are steps you can take to help hide your internet activity.
If someone has access to your computer who you don't want to see your browser history, you can clear the browsing history. The process is different for each browser, but usually there will be a History option inside Settings.
Additionally, most browsers will have a "private" or "incognito" mode. For most browsers, using this mode will stop the browser from saving your browsing history once you exit out of the browser.
